Winning the Battle, Losing the War

This is my (and my wonderfully smart middle son's) opinion:
If the Republicans had voted against the Stupak Amendment (which forbids the funds in this Health Reform Bill to be used for abortion), the Health Care Reform bill probably would not have passed.
Why? Because some portion of the 64 Democrats who voted "for" the Stupak Amendment would then NOT have voted for the whole Health Care reform. The Health Care bill would have been defeated.
I would lay this all at the feet of Representatative John Boehner R-OH, House Republican leader and Representative Eric Cantor R-Va, House Minority Whip.
Goodness Gracious, what poor planning, sir!
