Transparency At Work (We Wish)

Ah, transparency is going well....sorta.
Today, Senator Boxer D-Ca had planned to "mark" (or go over a bill to move the bill out of committee and put it forward for a vote by the whole Senate) the Cap-and-Trade Bill (otherwise known as the Kerry-Boxer bill, or S. 1733).
She was left in a basically empty room--the Republicans on the committee did not show up.
Why? Because the Republicans did not want to go over the bill and send it on to the Senate.
Why? Because the Environmental Protection Agency had not completed a total look at the economic consequences of this bill.
So? Senator Boxer is threatening to break the rules and go ahead with the "marking" anyway.
What rules? Those that state that at least 2 of the minority party in any committee must be present to "mark" a bill.
It's transparency all over the place....

And for more transparency----
Over a week ago, Senator Reid sent his Senate version of the health care reform bill to the Congressional Budget Office for scoring.
No one has yet to see the bill online. Additions have been made--and no one's seen the bill yet. Forty senators asked to see the bill--and no one's seen the bill yet.
Transparency is breaking out all over....
