Goodbye for a while....

I will gone for about 5 weeks.
Take care of my country, y'all!
Get out and vote whenever you can--for conservatives. Real conservatives, not just phonies.
Get others out to vote too!

Support conservatives monetarily. You can't vote for a conservative candidate who's outside of your district, but you can support them monetarily. Even a small amount can help conservative candidates win.
Who to help? Look at O'Donnell in Delaware, Rubio in Florida, Angle in Nevada, Fiorina in California...I can't find the list right now, but look around and find good conservative candidates to support!

Something Fishy in Chicago: The Blago Trial

Seems that perhaps Mr. Obama was aware of Blagojevich's desire for a Cabinet post in exchange for appointing Valerie Sterret as Senator to take Obama's seat in Illinois.
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/blagojevich/2427402,CST-NWS-BLAGO24.article
While apparently just "knowing" of a crime isn't felonious in itself, how does this "smell"?

DISCLOSE Act Passes House Today

Today the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives voted to pass the DISCLOSE Act 219-206. Thirty-six Democrats voted against the bill, and two Republicans (Castle-R-Delaware and Cao-R-Louisisana) voted for the bill.

This bill counters the Supreme Court decision that the McCain-Feingold provisions restricting political free speech by businesses, unions and other groups during certain times in election years was unconstitutional.

Fearing that conservatives would use their free speech, as guaranteed by the First Amendment of our Constitution, Democrats have muzzled free speech.

Except if you are the National Rifle Association, labor unions, or some other special group. Then you get to use your free speech.

CONGRESS IS DECIDING WHO GETS TO HAVE FREE SPEECH RIGHTS.
Call your Senator now and oppose the DISCLOSE Act.

Further Episodes of "The Gulf Oil Spill"

I grew up on the Texas Gulf coast. I lived on Galveston Island for several years. I love fresh shrimp, fish, and crab. One of my favorite things is to ride the Bolivar Ferry. And my growing-up years were financed by oil.

That's the thing---our economy, in so many, many ways, depends on oil. So many people depend on oil for their livelihood. And just as many depend on other resources that the Gulf Coast yields.

Which is WHY the response of the federal government is so IMPORTANT.

Now, do I feel that it is necessarily only the federal government's responsibility to fix the oil
spill?
No, I don't. But the federal government should provide to the governors of the Gulf Coast states all the help possible. including the best technology and know-how available to counter the biggest oil-spill environmental disaster ever.

But, first of all, you don't add to the problems by stopping all drilling. Funny thing, Judge Feldman noted that the Administration had lied about the Panel of Experts from the National Academy of Engineering's recommendations, opposing a drilling moratorium. So Judge Feldman overturned the moratorium. http://blog.heritage.org/2010/06/22/judge-blocks-obama%e2%80%99s-offshore-drilling-moratorium/#more-36808

As noted previously, the Interior Department has had problems before, and was in need of a good cleaning-up. Apparently, despite Obama's promises, this hasn't happened.
So Interior Secretary Salazar says he will now issue another drilling moratorium. If this goes through, the effects on the Gulf Coast economy will be tremendous (in a negative sense).

Next, let's talk about how the government is doing in helping out with oil spill and cleanup.
The federal government was also unaware of resource available in the U.S. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/06/11/allen-uh-no-one-told-me-about-maine-boom-company/
Now the federal government has stopped building the sand berms that they had recently okayed. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/06/23/feds-halt-berm-building-dredging-by-louisiana/
And the federal government isn't even using the oil skimmers that are available here in the U.S.!!! In Florida, only 23 of the 2,000 skimmers in the U.S. are being used used off the coast of Florida. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/06/22/exclusive-senator-lemieux-says-he-sees-no-leadership-from-obama-on-gulf-disaster/
Instead of leadership on this oil spill, this is what we're getting:
June 17: The President works on the lawsuit on Arizona
June 18: Baseball. And if I remember correctly, that beer was banned by Mr. Obama's physician.
June 19: Golf (six hours worth)
June 20: Day off for Father's Day. Disses BP exec for going on a sailing jaunt.
June 21: Mr. Obama hosts BBQ
June 22: Mr. Obama hosts Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgender Bash.
June 23: Hamburger date with Russian President Mendevev.

Oops, Mistake on the Gulf Oil Spill

The federal government hasn't asked for help from other countries in cleaning up the oil, apparently.
The Jones Act restricts foreign vessels in US waters. According to both Democrats and Republicans, the Administration needs to waive the Jones Act temporarily and allow foreign ships to help with the oil clean up.

Mr. Barton is Right

Mr. Barton (R-Texas) is right--the $20 billion dollars from British Petroleum is a "shakedown" and a "slush fund".
This money will be run by an "independent" party, who turns out to be a supporter of Mr. Obama. To me, this sounds like Mr. Obama will be in charge of the fund.
Mr. Obama did this without any legitimacy. He has no legislative nor judicial authority to make BP pay up.
BTW, Mr. Barton is my representative.
It's nice to have someone who tells the truth, even if he stated it awkwardly.

President Touts Recovery in Ohio--Costing Us at least Half a Million Dollars

Mr. Obama went to Ohio today to tout the stimulus.
This trip cost the taxpayers between one-half and one million dollars for Mr. Obama's 10 minute speech.
Construction workers were not allowed to come to work and did not get paid for their forced day off.
This is the second time this month that a speech by Mr. Obama forced workers to stay home a day without pay.

Iran Plans More Reactors

Iran, thumbing its nose at the newly-minted UN sanctions against its nuclear program, has declared that it will built four more reactors and continue its nuclear research program.

President Ahmadinejad said Iran will not make "one iota of concessions." "We set conditions (for any talks) so that, God willing, you'll be punished a bit and sit at the negotiating table like a polite child," he stated about the sanctions.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/06/16/iran-tells-west-iota-concessions-nuclear-program-plans-build-new-reactors/

More "Whoa! Nellie!" Tidbits

#1) Clinton announces that the federal government will take the State of Arizona to court over the new immigration laws--which are merely enactments of the FEDERAL immigration laws.
#2) Stimulus funding at work--The federal government spent $54 million dollars in stimulus money to the Mohegan Indian tribe's casino in Connecticut with the support of Senator Dodd (D-Connecticut). This casino takes in about $1.3 billion dollars per year. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/mohegan-sun-casino-owners-received-54-million-stimulus/story?id=10889408
#3) The Obama Administration has spent $1.2 billion dollars on walking and biking paths this year, both from stimulus money and from the Federal Highway Administration.
#4) The squirrels get paths, too--specifically, they get "squirrel bridges" over the highways in Arizona because the squirrels the rare Mount Graham squirrels are getting run over. Arizona has received $1.25 million dollars for these bridges. http://abcnews.go.com/US/Broadcast/arizona-spends-125-million-endangered-squirrels/story?id=10934895
A question??? How will the squirrels know to use their bridges?

Whoa! Nellie! Watch out for the Constitution!

So many dastardly deeds....including....

#1) Assault on our First Amendment rights--the right to free speech:
The first curtailing of our free speech is the Administration's attempt to regulate the Internet. The FCC, despite a recent Court ruling that the internet is NOT a "telecommunications" service and thus NOT under FCC's control, just redefinied the internet as "telecommunications". And now plans to impose "net neutrality" rules which will allow the FCC to regulate speech over the internet. http://spectator.org/archives/2010/06/17/en-gulfing-the-internet

#2) Another First Amendment problem: the DISCLOSE Act:
A bit ago, the Supreme Court struck down restrictions on free speech of corporations (both for-profit and not-for-profit) by allowing political speech by these entities.
Now Congress intends to bypass the Supreme Court decision by banning outright some forms of free speech by corporations and by enacting burdensome regulations on the free speech that would remain open to those corporations.
Of course, the DISCLOSE Act continues to allow unions to express their free speech, perhaps because unions are mostly voting Democrat. http://blog.heritage.org/2010/06/17/disclosing-contempt-for-liberty-and-the-constitution/#more-36480

#3) The unconstitutional actions of the President in demanding $20 billion from British Petroleum.
Mr. Obama has no Constitutional authority to unilaterally (without legislation via Congress, or without judicial review through the court system) take money from any corporation. It's illegal under our Constitution. As Ben Stein put it, "These are the acts of a big city boss or a third world dictator." http://spectator.org/archives/2010/06/16/the-caudillo-president

The Gulf Oil Spill: A Timeline

1994: The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) crafted a plan for massive offshore oil spills: to round up the oil within fire booms and then burn it off. Some
experts feel this could have contained 95% of the oil in the current Gulf oil spill. Problem is, the federal government never purchased any fire booms. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/where_was_plan_rlt5oDKad55hkqHe64BgqM

2008:
President-elect Obama promised that he would straighten up the Department of the Interior and the Mineral Management Service (part of the Interior Department). "I...want an Interior Department that, very frankly, cleans up its act."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wpdyn/content/article/2008/12/17/AR2008121701589.html

Mr. Obama receives more than $77,000 from British Petroleum, the biggest recipient of their political donations ever. http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=6584A5A0-18FE-70B2-A838E6437FBEC75D

2009:
The Deepwater Horizon drilling rig was awarded a safety award by the MMS. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/04/transocean-deepwater-hori_n_563042.html
However, MMS apparently wasn't performing the proper oversight of drilling off our coasts, according to Vice-President Biden, who stated, "We’re finding out that the oversight was as bad as I thought it was in my career as a senator.”
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/05/vp-biden-were-finding-out-the-oil-drilling-oversight-was-as-bad-as-i-thought.html
In fact, the MMS had not been performing the monthly inspections on the drilling rig that it was supposed to do. The Deepwater Horizon rig also was operating without the required MMS safety authentications. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100516/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gulf_oil_spill_inspections
Yet, despite his claims to "clean up" the MMS, Mr. Obama left many of the top officials in their offices at the MMS--and the MMS gave BP a "catagorical exclusion" from the National Environmental Policy Act in April 2009. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/05/05/politics/washingtonpost/main6462513.shtml

2010:

Not so fast, say the experts. They don't agree with the moratorium; in fact, they are quite opposed to it. The experts, in fact, feel that stopping drilling is a bad idea---a six-month moratorium may lead to drilling rigs being sent overseas to other oil fields, potentially leaving older and more dangerous rigs here in the United States, and possibly stopping drilling for years. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/06/10/experts-say-obama-misrepresented-views-justify-offshore-drilling-ban/

Iran: Subverting Sanctions

The Obama Administration has promised that they will impose tough sanctions on Iran for continuing to ramp up their nuclear program and enrich their uranium supplies.

However, despite all previous promises and statements about implementing these "tough sanctions", the White House is now working to ease sanctions against Iran, fearful of the anger of other countries.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iran-sanctions-20100611,0,5936318.story

Secretary of State Clinton promised in April 2010 that the the US will impose "crippling sanctions" against Iran if diplomacy did not work. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6149692.ece

Earlier this month, on the eve of the United Nations Security Council vote on sanctions, Secretary Clinton promised that these would be the "toughest ever" applied to Iran.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/06/08/world/main6562893.shtml

The sanctions that came from the United Nations, however, were relatively mild and were poo-pooed by Iranian President Ahmadinejad who retorted, "These resolutions have no value ... It is like a used handkerchief that should be thrown in the waste bin." And from Iran's enfoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, "Nothing will change. The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue uranium enrichment activities."

http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2010/04/Iran-Economic-Sanctions-at-the-UN-Security-Council-The-Incredible-Shrinking-Resolution

Yet, President Obama is working to subvert even these mild sanctions in Congress.

Our First Amendment Freedoms

A comment from a friend on the Administration's and the FTC's proposal to bolster failing newspapers by taxing Internet news agencies (such as the Drudge Report) and by taxing such personal items such as laptops and Kindles (that enable you to read on-line news). These taxes would then go to the floundering newspapers to ensure their survival.
"How tenuous are our freedoms- constantly under assault from our own government! I can't believe that the FTC would be so ham-fisted as to attempt such a blatant rescue of the failing Main Stream Media by taxing internet news sources..."

The government has no business "paying" newspapers. Would this lead to government control of these news sources? How could we ever even begin to trust "Government Media"?

Fortunately, the Administration (through the FTC) is backing down on this. But keep an eye out for this erosion of our liberties to pop up again.

Update on Carbon

The Senate voted to overturn Senator Murkowski's (R-Alaska) resolution to take away the EPA's ability to regulate carbon emissions that might endanger public health.
There was quite a lot of discussion, as you might imagine. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/06/oil-spill-invades-epa-debate.html

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) associated the BP Gulf oil spill to the necessity of regulating carbon emissions. Senator James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) repudiated the idea that the oil spill was related to the regulation of carbon emissions.

Senator Barasso (R-Wyoming) stated that Democrats were wanting to give up all Congressional oversite of the EPA (which is unnacountable to voters and only accountable to the President).
Senator Boxer replied that the EPA's scientists should be making these decisions.

The problem is that the EPA has been a political tool in the past.
http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=4776
http://www.examiner.com/x-9111-SF-Environmental-Policy-Examiner~y2009m6d26-The-politics-if-not-the-science-is-settled-at-the-EPA-Alan-Carlin-global-warming-and-trouble

The other problems?
First, global warming is not a proven science. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124597505076157449.html

Second, proposals such as in the Cap-and-Trade bills would have essentially no effect on our climate (even assuming that global warming is true). Climatologist Knappenberger from World Climate Report states that Cap-and-Trade would lower global temperatures less than one-fifth of one degree Farenheit. http://www.masterresource.org/2010/05/the-american-power-act-a-climate-dud/

And finally, the economic effects would be catastrophic to our country. New EPA regulations would cost businesses thousands and thousands of dollars---and hundreds of hours of work. And this is prior to the increased costs of energy that would occur with the Cap-and-Trade bill.

Write Your Senators about Judge Chatigny

The guy who overturned a death sentence because the man's sexual sadism was a "Mitigating Factor"?

Well, he passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee with all Democrats voting for Judge Chatigny and his leniency toward sexual offenders (this judge has also repeatedly given sex offenders minimum or even Less-than-Minimal sentences). He is nominated for the US Second Court of Appeals.
Now this judge and his abhorrent practices will be voted on by the entire Senate.
Write your Senator today in opposition to this nomination.
Use the little button to the right to find your Senator. You can then go to your Senator's web page and simply write an email. Express your opposition to a judge who is soft on sexual offenders.

To Read and Ponder: "The Alien in the White House"

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703302604575294231631318728.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop

Not "alien" as in from another planet; but "alien" as in a stranger, an outsider.
The contention of this article is that Mr. Obama and his administration are outsiders, aliens, from most Americans' way of thinking.

Ms. Rabinowitz states that Americans want as President "a man of them, for them, the nation's voice and champion." What we got instead was someone whose appointees spend their time "delivering the latest inversion of reality", and whose chief counterterrorism advisor believes that "violent extremists are victims of political, economic and social forces."

I would mention, in addition to this article, a President who appointed as safe school czar a man whose only action when approached by a 16 year old boy having sex with an older man was to wear a condom; a President whose "stimulus" program for jobs is a total waste of money but continues to praise a 10% (give or take a few points) unemployment rate; a President who apparently knew about the severity of the Gulf oil spill but only has had time for parties, speeches, and photography sessions with atheletes---but no time to talk to the head honchos at British Petroleum. Out of touch?

Cap and Trade: A Guest Blogger

I would like to present for your approbation a speech given last year by Mr. Joe Vickers, a tea-party activist in Louisiana on Cap-and-Trade:

I want to thank everyone here today at the Shreveport Bossier July 4th Tea Party for attending and showing your support for the Christian Conservative Movement known as the Tea Party. We are neither Republicans nor Democrats, but concerned citizens worried about our future and the future of our children and their children.

I hope to enlighten each of you with a few basic facts regarding the latest attempt by the Obama Administration to bring you the largest tax increase in the history of the U.S. under the misguided assumption that we alone, will cure the world of climate change. At least, this is what we are led to believe.

This newest boondoggle brought to you by our dear leader was originally known as the Cap and Trade bill or the Waxman-Markey bill. The name was changed recently due to bad press and is now entitled the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. It has the same ugly result that the original bill would have brought us, and is, in all practical effects, another scheme for the redistribution of wealth from our nation to under-developed nations of the world.

Interestingly enough, we are the only nation willing to bind ourselves to this hugely onerous destruction of capital and jobs...which brings me to my first quote of Thomas Jefferson speaking to Edward Carrington in 1787:
"If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions”.

Last week, by a slim margin - 219 to 212 - the U.S. House of Representatives passed the so-called Cap and Trade Bill. This bill, now headed to the U.S. Senate for final action, is designed to “cap” greenhouse emissions and restrict “trade” with those nations that fail to meet certain standards in controlling those emissions. The overall goal for capping emissions is an 80% reduction in the release of Carbon dioxide, or CO2.

What is the pollutant known as CO2? It is more commonly known as the air we breathe or more specifically, the air we exhale. Trees and plants thrive on CO2, the air they breathe, and when they exhale, they create Oxygen. We as humans breathe oxygen and exhale CO2. CO2 is not a pollutant. It is a giver of life, just as Oxygen is. Without CO2, plant life would die. Without plant life, we could not exist. This is a very basic concept for us as citizens to understand. Why is it so hard for Congress and our President? Are they that stupid? Well, I guess they answered our question last week.

During the recent presidential campaign, this quote by Barack Obama was released, speaking on cap-and-trade: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket"--this coming from a man who belongs to the party who supposedly cares about the little person....which leads to my second quote by Thomas Jefferson:
"The human character, we believe, requires in general constant and immediate control to prevent its being biased from right by the seductions of self-love."

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, is a 1,400-page document consisting of a cap-and-trade program for greenhouse gas emissions, a federal renewable electricity mandate, and a suite of new mandatory energy efficiency standards; it will impose 397 new federal regulations and 1060 new mandates on an American public already overwhelmed by extensive federal regulation.

This bill is very restrictive to one of our most reliable methods of electrical production, coal fired power plants. By design, our electric companies can continue to produce power with coal; however, the environmental restrictions will be very expensive, as well as nonsensical in nature. Our electric utility will be forced to purchase “carbon credits” offshore to offset the released carbon derived from the burning of coal. This is very simply a push to take our money and send it overseas. In essence, the electric utility will pay for carbon credits that will allow them to continue to operate coal fired power plants in this manner. For example; a farmer in Bolivia or any country wishes to cut down trees or clear land for farming. Our utility will pay the farmer or his government to “not” cut down the trees and to leave them standing so the trees will capture the carbon released by our electric utility. Does this make sense yet? Who is going to check on the farmer later and ensure those trees are standing? I guess we’ll have to get a Carbon Czar for that job.
This 1,400 page bill is just the latest in our nation's attempt to fix a problem that no one knows for sure can be fixed, and even whether or not it is a problem. Our illustrious leaders and environmentalists have hammered the public with tales of the planet burning up from too much heat due to carbon released by gasoline and coal fired electric plants. Scientific studies have indicated the temperature of the earth was 3 degrees warmer during the Middle Ages, which led to much exploration and expansion of the population across the globe. Greenland was named by the Norse because of its lack of ice at the time of discovery and was colonized extensively in the early Middle Ages. The global temperature was recently announced as being as much as 6 degrees warmer at the time of the building of the Great Pyramids. In between these cycles of warmth, there were intense cooling cycles that varied as much as 5 degrees cooler than present day temperatures. Even recently, in the 1980’s, the press and scientists kept screaming about the coming Ice Age.

A goal of the Clean Energy Act, is to make it expensive to use fuel that emits greenhouse gases in order "to encourage people to make substitutions." The choices that industries, individuals and the government make will determine the cost of the policies. The target of carbon offset from this bill is 80% between 2010 and 2100 and it will have little or no effect on the supposed global warming crisis--Yes, the one we’ve all heard of for the last 10 years, and also the global warming crisis that has recently been signed off on by over 700 scientists and presented to Congress as “not a global warming event, but in fact what is occurring is global cooling.”

...The bottom line is that a reduction of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions of greater than 80%, as envisioned in the Waxman-Markey climate bill will only produce a global temperature 'savings' during the next 50 years of about ½ degree.

I would like to point out what a miserable embarrassment the passing of the bill will be in so many ways, besides the obvious fact that it is a job-killer and a burden for families; all in the name of reversing 'global warming' or 'climate change'. China and India, the world’s largest polluters, will not participate in the Clean Energy Act, and will instead end up being the recipient of many of our manufacturing jobs, and quite a bit of our money. Again, the redistribution of wealth from our society to under-developed countries.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, there will be a net loss of an estimated 800,000 jobs to possibly as much as 2,000,000 jobs. Haven’t we lost enough already? Isn’t 10% unemployment too much already?

But in defense of the job losses, the Obama administration claims this will lead to the creation of a new class of environmentally friendly jobs to take the place of those lost. The CBO estimates 0.5% (1/2 of 1%) annual job growth in this sector will occur in Green Technologies. In plain English, which by the way, is our national language; this means it will take 200 years to replace the jobs lost!

How does this affect us, as average citizens? The effects of the Clean Energy ACT will be fairly quick once implemented. According to the Congressional Budget Office, which often under –estimates by as much as 70% or more, concluded the following will occur:

---Gasoline for autos, and diesel and fuel oil, will increase at minimum 74%
---Utilities such as water, butane, electricity will increase 90%
---Food costs will skyrocket
---Your local government will run short on budgeted expenses, thereby looking for additional revenue in the form of more taxes.
---Local businesses will increase prices to offset increased operational costs
---If you have oil or gas revenues from investments or mineral rights, expect to see a decrease in revenues as consumption drops significantly. Remember, the price increases go overseas to other governments, not to our citizens.

Your electric bill will go up an average of $3160 per year per household.

How this affects you is really very simple and here are some very easy points to remember:

Once implemented the cost of a gallon of gas will probably escalate rapidly to $4.68 a gallon, diesel will probably hit $5.00 a gallon.

Your electric bill will go up an average of $263 per month. If your electric bill is currently averaging $120 per month, your new monthly bill will be $383 per month. Likewise, if you’re using $200 per month, you will be paying $463 per month. The unfairness is that, again; this is a redistribution of wealth. You are paying higher costs for carbon offset, a non proven pollutant.

Obviously this effort is being led by environmentalists who wish to hold our way of life captive and enact control over our very existence as a society. I hope I have enlightened each of you with a few basic facts regarding this latest attempt to destroy our liberty and our pursuit of happiness by the Obama Administration in their efforts to bring you the largest tax increase in the history of the U.S

With that, I will leave you with a few quotes from George Washington,
#1. I shall not be deprived ... of a comfort in the worst event, if I retain a consciousness of having acted to the best of my judgment.
#2. Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak and esteem to all
#3. To contract new debts is not the way to pay old ones.
And finally, Let me leave you with a quote from another Great American, John Wayne: "Life is tough... It’s even tougher if you’re stupid."

Goofs of the Week

1. Secretary of State Clinton sends birthday greetings to the Queen of England A Week Early.
Oops, well, she's not a social secretary, I guess.
2. Helen Thomas spouts off once too often.
Here in the US we have free speech.
But if your free speech contradicts the rules of your employer, you can be fired.
3. President Obama at high school graduation tells students not to blame others for their mistakes.
4. President Obama forgets D-Day.
He had (another) party that day.
5. President Obama uses vulgarity.
Leadership?

News of the Week: Debt, Taxes, Spending

Here's a brief review of what's happening economically:
1. National Debt:
This is now predicted to surpass our GDP by 2012, which will be detrimental (to say the least) to our economoy
2. Taxes:
Congress is busy raising our taxes another 43 billion dollars (on top of the new health care taxes, which amount to about 500 billion dollars).
This is on top of the tax hikes which will occur when the Bush tax cuts expire. Taxes will also rise on capital gains and on earned dividends.
2. Spending:
Congress is also billions of dollars in emergency and unbudgeted spending:

White House Politics??

First, Representative Sestak is offered a position by former President Clinton somewhere in the Administration in return for dropping out of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary race against the current Senator Specter.
Read this and see for yourself the strangeness of all this (including the maybe-offer of a job that Sestak was ineligible for).

Now the White House has revealed that Mr. Andrew Romanoff was offered three jobs in exchange for dropping out of the Colorado Senate Democratic primary race against Senator Bennett.
Attorney General Eric Holder has refused to look into these situations:

And then there's the question of Mr. Obama's role in the Blagojevich scandel----now ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois who is accused of "selling" the empty Senate seat belonging to now-President Obama. Back in 2008, questions arose as to whether President Obama had a role in the manipulation of this Senate race.
The trial will soon begin, with White House aides Rahm Emmanuel and Valerie Jarrett, and Senator Harry Reid (and other folks too) called to testify.

The Economy, Again....

The unemployment rate dipped a bit, from 9.9%to 9.7%----

However, this is due to temporary Census workers, which accounted for the vast majority of new hires (441,000, to be exact).
Only 41,000 people were hired last month in the private sector.

This equates to 95.5% of hirings last month were from the government--NOT private business.
And are temporary jobs to boot.
