And More Talk of Taxes

Henry Aaron and Isabel Sawhill, senior fellows in economic studies at the Brookings Institution, report that increases in federal taxes will now be necessary to fund the health care initiative. They propose a value-added tax (VAT) on all goods and services. They seem to feel that this will be a tax on the rich and middle-class.
Shades of Pelosi.
And, unfortunately, VATs affect the poor, who do have a lot of extra income, the most.
And taxes are BAD for the economy--not good, as Aaron and Sawhill assert.
