Your Taxes At Work

Remember how yesterday I stated that less spending would help our economy?
Well, the Senate did not agree.
The Senate voted yesterday and passed an over 1 trillion dollar spending bill.
This bill represents a 12% INCREASE in spending.
And it's full of earmarks--otherwise known as pork-barrel projects.
Last week, the Senate introduced legislation to begin a Task Force to reduce spending, seeing as how they are running up trillions of dollars in deficits.
It didn't seem to make much difference--nine senators who sponsored the Fiscal Task Force then turned around and voted for the spending bill.
It's enough to make your head spin!
BTW, the nine senators who seem more than slightly muddled in their thinking are:
Michael Bennet (D-CO)
Kent Conrad (D-ND)
Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)
Joseph Lieberman (D-CT)
Ben Nelson (D-NE)Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL)
Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)
Mark Udall (D-CO) and
Mark Warner (D-VA).
Oh, and in case you might be interested, the federal workers who earn more than $150,000 per year has more than doubled in the last couple of years.
More than 22,000 federal employees make more than $170,000.
That doesn't count the $41,000 each earns in benefits.
This was begun under President Bush, and needs to be addressed by Congress and President Obama now.

  1. Given that Pres Obama has assured us that earmarks will not be tolerated we can assume he will veto this and castigate the Congress for sending him such a bill?
