Interestingly enough, the Cash for Clunkers program did not bode well for Government...oops, General Motors or Chrysler companies in the month of August.
GM reported a 20% decrease in sales compared to August 2008, while Chrysler reported a 15% fall from a year ago--although Chrysler sold 5% more cars in August 2009 than in July 2009.
I guess Americans don't really go for governmental pandering to the automotive companies (which is what C for C is) OR don't like/trust government-run companies. Or something.
On another level, C for C has been a "clunker". The dealerships aren't being paid.
Since our federal government will have to be printing lots of money to pay out all the stuff it's promised, maybe the government is just waiting till inflation hits and then pay the poor dealerships off with money that is worth less.
Or maybe it's just imcompetent.
Just speculating!
